The DAB EsyBox Mini 3 is a compact automatic water pressurization system for the water supply of a single dwelling. It combines a high-frequency self-priming double-impeller pump, inverter electronics, pressure and flow sensors, an integrated expansion vessel and a cartridge check valve in one enclosure, so no additional components are required at installation. The inverter varies motor speed against demand to hold delivery pressure constant as flow changes, rather than cycling on and off at a fixed switch point.
The pressure set point is adjustable from 15 to 79 psi and is set and read from an adjustable high-resolution LCD on the unit. The pump is rated to a maximum head of 180 ft and a maximum flow rate of 21 U.S. GPM, with a maximum working pressure of 109 psi, and it primes in under five minutes at a suction depth of 26 ft. Inlet and outlet are 1 inch NPT, and the suction and delivery ports are doubled so the unit can be installed either vertically or horizontally. The motor is water-cooled rather than fan-cooled, and the unit sits on anti-vibration feet. It runs on standard 110-127 V single-phase power at 50/60 Hz, drawing a maximum of 850 W.
The integrated expansion vessel holds 1/4 gal (1 litre). DAB is explicit that it is not the vessel's function to provide a water reserve that reduces how often the system starts, and that a vessel of the operator's preferred capacity can be added where that is wanted; DAB recommends one. Protections built into the controller cover constant pressure, dry running, freezing, anticycling, motor overload, abnormal supply voltage and excess temperature. The unit also connects to DAB's app through DConnect for monitoring and software updates.
The system is designed for indoor use and is suitable for treated drinking water. It must not be used to pump salt water, sewage, or inflammable, corrosive or explosive liquids, nor greases, oils or food products. DAB specifies clean, non-viscous, non-aggressive, uncrystallized and chemically neutral liquid, free of solid or abrasive contaminants. Ambient temperature must stay between 1 and 50 °C, the ambient-to-liquid temperature difference must not exceed 30 °C, and relative humidity must not exceed 50 percent, or condensation can damage the electronic board.
